>Vilgax is then forced into the role of “antihero” of the universe, because what good is it to rule he universe if you have no subjects to rule over. The last thing we still hadn’t decided on was whether his endgame outfit would be the Ultra-Ben costume, a plumber suit, or some variety of Xenos armor, the example presented being Tau Fire warrior armor. I also recall that in that scenario, after one too many close calls/screw-ups Ben would eventually drop some of his arrogant bratty ness and come to rely on Gwen more as an equal, even going so far as to swallow his pride and ask her to teach him Karate. If I recall correctly, we theorized that Ben would obtain most of his starting weapons and gadgets by nicking them off of enemies that either he and Gwen or Max defeated, as Max would try to keep him from even knowing about such things, let alone arm and train him with them, unless he had to, and few would give a 10 year old such ordinance. That was pretty goodĪh yes, I remember that thread, it was quite a bit of fun. Gwen having magic, and Ben doing weapons and tech, and eventually there being a big reveal on both sides allowing all three of them to fight together as a family. >I remember a while back we were spitballing an concept where Max did get the Omnitrix with no issues, and he tried to hide it from Ben and Gwen, while they each developed their own skill set and hid it from him. Maybe two or three times, plus him being the last Alien Form to hold in the power of the Big Bang in the finale. It was an interesting concept, and I liked the story arc, don't get me wrong, but then after all this build up we never really saw much of him again. I'm not sure if its because the way he was using feebacks powers was addictive or if the feeling of simply being in that form was more enjoyable. The implication was that Ben was literally getting addicted to being him. Azmuth called it something special, like FormLock or LifeLock or something to that effect, and it required a special code to enable.Īs for feedback, it was kind of weird. I also got the feeling with Bullfrag that there is a special set of circumstances that allowed him to be another species for an extended period of time that wouldn't apply if Ben was just using one form over and over again. The other part, of course, being how much energy the transformations required to sustain. I just remember that it was supposed to be bad for you to do it, and that was part of the reason why the Omnitrix had such a short timer. Like he can never truly get away from Ben and his memory.ĭid it say he'd never be able to change, or just that he'd have difficulty using his other forms? Its been a while since I've seen it. Maybe a human or one of the little chills, just as a full-circle kind of deal. He works with Myaxx, as she’s the only other person who knows how to fix the Omnitrix when it breaks aside from Azmuth, and one other person. Vilgax is then forced into the role of “antihero” of the universe, because what good is it to rule he universe if you have no subjects to rule over. He killed Ben to get it, but the universe has other threats that still exist, things like the Incurseans and the high breed. I’ve been tossing around an idea in my own head that there is at least one Vilgax with an Omnitrix. I remember a while back we were spitballing an concept where Max did get the Omnitrix with no issues, and he tried to hide it from Ben and Gwen, while they each developed their own skill set and hid it from him. And Mad Ben seemed pretty loyal to Maltruant as well, so it isn’t even as if they had to be worried that he was going to turn around and stab them in the back Which is a shame, because Mad Ben showed that if a Ben decided he was going to take over the world, he’d fucking do it, and do it with style. It seemed like everybody really just wanted the Omnitrix for themselves, or just wanted him dead for the hell of it. There really should have been at least one guy, from any group, who tried to recruit Ben for their own purposes. WoG says that with the exception of that one guy who showed up in Omniverse, everybody else died in that battle. I liked what it did for his character in concept, even if the implementation was kind of choppy.īut then after the finale with Diagon, both the forever knights and the flame keepers circle were both shunted out of the storyline, pretty much forever. It was also kind of neat to see the comparison between George and Ben. Once they were united under Old George instead of being all over the place they were actually dangerous. For a very short while, the Forever Knights were shaping up to be an actual threat.
